MBL History Projects Opens its Doors for the 2015 Season

The MBL History Project enters its third year.

On Thursday, May 14th, the MBL History Project researchers opened up their summer laboratory in MBL’s Lillie building, room 228, for the start of the project’s third year. The team will be in residence until July 17th.

History in the Making


In preparation for the 125th anniversary of the MBL in 2013, members of the MBL History and Philosophy of Science Program are developing a new digital history resource on the history of MBL.

MBL Community Archives begins May 28th

During MBL’s 125th anniversary this summer, the MBL Community Archives Project asks you to contribute your photographs, memories, stories, letters, and research or course notebooks to our community generated archive.

January 3 MBL Project Demonstration


On January 3, 2013, the History Project team will present a demonstration of the project to the MBL Community. We anticipate an official launch of the new website and project coming soon this spring.

April 26 Joint Atlantic Seminar for the History of Biology


On April 25-26, the Marine Biological Laboratory will be hosting the 48th Joint Atlantic Seminar for the History of Biology.

The MBL History Project Closes Out a Fourth Season


On Friday, July 22, 2016, the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) History Project closed its doors on its fourth season.

MBL Community Archives Opens for the Summer

An exciting opening to the MBL Community Archives Project took place on Friday, May 25th in the Grass Reading Room, and down the hall in the new archives intake studio Lillie Rm 228 in the MBLWHOI Library.

This summer the MBL Community Archives Project is holding three Open House Fridays, on July 12th, 26th, and August 2nd. These events will be held in the Grass Reading Room of the MBLWHOI Library at 12 noon, and the community is invited to attend.
